I’m 5 days away from my due date. It’s pretty surreal that within the next week we will be meeting our little boy. I’m super pumped.

My patience has been tested with this waiting game and I’m trying to keep my mind of the fact that I’m pregnant and waiting for his arrival. That’s easier said then done when I’m tired, hot, my belly is the size of a bowling ball and my appetite is getting more picky.

Anyways, being pregnant and a mom are the two hardest jobs and I’m super happy that I have this healthy boy growing inside of me. Pretty soon we will all get to meet him

Here is a 39 Week Update for you:

THE BABY IS about 19-21 inches long Weighing about 7-8lbs and the size of a watermelon!

Weight gained

I’m up 26 lbs

Gender:

It’s a BOY!!!

Workouts

my workouts have been good. I’m still teaching classes just not doing nearly as much as I was before! moving keeps me sane and it also feels good. I am not sure whether I will be teaching next week but we will see how I feel

This picture was taken before teaching my Group Power Class!

Symptoms:

I’m pretty symptom free for the most part. My small symptoms are that I’m tired, I’ve had some braxton hicks contractions, mild cramping and muscle spasms. None of these have been serious and I feel like labor is NEVER going to happen although it has to!

Food Aversions:

I’m not eating that many veggies this week, my body seems to be staying away and I’m eating more carbs and fats.

Food Cravings:

Nuts, seeds, trail mix

PEACHES

Toast or potatoes

My moms potato salad yummmm

Sandwiches

cold foods like salads, raw veggies and fruit

I still need protein at every meal and have been eating lots of chicken and fish

Sleep:

Sleep has been okay. I wake up 2x to pee and go right back to sleep. I’m like a zombie!!! I have had a few times this past week I woke up with cramping but it was nothing!

Maternity clothes:

I have a select few workout outfits that I’m rocking. I wash them on the regular because right now I have to wear whats comfy and what fits! I still love my maternity shorts and tanks though too.

Stretch marks:

None yet!

Do I Miss anything:

I miss laying on my belly, I miss being able to bend over like a normal person, I miss exercising at a normal pace without needed to take a breather every so often.

I miss coffee & wine. Those both sound energizing and relaxing right now!!

Movement:

My little boy moves a ton but at certain times of the day. Some of his belly rolls make me feel sick to my stomach and I need to change positions. He still hiccups daily and throws me some kicks to the rib every once in a while.

Baby Items Purchased:

I bought some little boy shorts, pants and a onesie with a firetruck on it. Ava loves firetrucks so I assume so will our little boy!

Wedding rings ON or OFF:

I finally took them off. I have no swelling but part of me was scared that something would happen if I kept them on!

Belly Button IN or OUT?

OUT OUT OUT.

I’m Looking Forward To:

Um… his arrival? It’s all I can think about and consumes my every waking thought. While I know these will be my final days as a pregnant lady, I think I have experienced enough and I’m ready to meet him. I am also ready for Ava to be a big sister. I know she is going to be the best helper!! I CAN’T WAIT.

LABOR SIGNS:

I had a couple real contractions this week but only one at a time. Is it bad to say I loved the pain?? I couldn’t help but get excited for a hot second and then my hopes were taken away.

This baby boy is in it for the long haul and is cozy.

Random Things:

I wish jumping jacks would make this guy come out, but walking, exercise, pineapple, cleaning the kitchen floor, spicy food, it’s ALL A myth. He will come when he’s ready and that’s truly what I believe.

But really what’s he waiting for?? The heat wave to be over???

I had a doctor apt this week and all is well and I had no progress I’m stuck at 2cm 50% effaced!

That’s all I have for you today but I hope that we can all see this little boy soon

I’m currently 38 weeks + 2 days pregnant and there are 12 days until my due date. UMMMM… I’m psyched.

I’m a very punctual person and I always arrive early, so I hope he follows my lead!!! Each day he stays put I know he’s getting healthier and stronger so that’s always a plus. I’ve learned before with Ava that the baby will come when he’s ready but the question is will he come early, on time or late?? Your guess is as good as mine and to be honest I would rather not think about it.

Every day people are asking me how I’m feeling, if I have any symptoms, or they tell me when they think the baby will be coming. The truth is NO one has an answer and that’s the hardest part of this waiting game.

I’m feeling pretty good these days and still functioning as I normally would. I am moving a bit slower, I feel a bit heavier and I have had some cranky moments but that’s expected when you are this pregnant right?! As much as I’m ready to meet our little guy, each of these days with just Ava has been super special. She’s said some amazing things to make me smile this week, for instance yesterday out of no where she said Mommy… I said Yes Ava, and she said I love you!! I could’ve cried on the spot. Of course I said I love you back and I told her how sweet that was. She sure knows how to make me happy and she’s been so much fun these past 2 weeks. It’s crazy to know things are about to drastically change for both of us

I’m looking forward to the long weekend ahead with my family and can’t wait to spend the days outside!

Here’s a 38 Week update for you:

THE BABY IS about 19-21 inches long Weighting about 6 lbs 14oz- 7 lbs according to my doctor appointment yesterday!

Weight gained

I’m up 25 lbs

Gender:

It’s a BOY!!!

Workouts

I’m back to teaching and it feels great. It’s so funny when you are told not to do something it makes you want to do it even more right? Well that’s how I felt from week 36-37 but now that I’m back to my normal routine I’m SOO happy. Exercise is both mentally and physically important to me. I love my job and helping others, but it keeps my mood stable and it is sort of my therapy on days I need it to be.

So far this week I have taught 4 classes and I haven’t had any issues besides some serious sweat dripping. This heat is crazy and I feel like I can’t drink enough water! I get short of breathe here and there but it’s not any different then before.

I plan to keep teaching until the baby comes and the doctor is supportive of it!

Symptoms:

I’ve had some braxton hicks contractions, mild cramping and muscle spasms. These all come randomly and I don’t really think much about it because it’s been happening for weeks now!! I want some real symptoms, bring it on

Food Aversions:

I’m leaning more towards carbs lately and I think my body is telling me to stay away from veggies. My stomach is a little sensitive this past week so I’m trying to listen to it.

Food Cravings:

I LOVE PEACHES. They are necessary every day.

Protein is important for me at every meal and when I don’t have it, things go haywire

CARBS are making a huge appearance. bread, pretzels, and potatoes are daily staples.

I really like all fruit and have been eating about 3 servings a day

Sleep:

Sleep has been okay. I wake up 2x at most to pee per night. The last 2 nights Cooper has barked to go out at 3am and that really messed me up because Ava wakes up and we have to get her back to bed. Besides that though I know my sleep would be good! I have taken a few occasional naps on days that I need it and those have helped.

Maternity clothes:

I’m living in maternity clothes and loose tops that I feel comfortable in. With the warmer weather I’m pretty much in shorts and tanks every day!

Stretch marks:

None yet!

Do I Miss anything:

I miss comfortable sleep. I feel like my belly is weighing me down and it’s hard to stay put but I somehow manage.

Of course I miss the usual exercise, bending over, putting my shoes on like a normal 31 year old and not bumping into things with my belly

Movement:

My little boy moves a ton but at certain times of the day. I felt his leg and foot the other night for a while and he didn’t move it which was weird to me. I immediately had Marc feel it and he thought it was crazy too!! I get little kicks to the rib cage and hiccups DAILY!

Baby Items Purchased:

We haven’t bought anything new this week, but we did move Ava to a big girl bed this week so that freed up the crib!! We are going to wait to set it up in the baby’s room until she’s fully adjusted to her new room/bed which she LOVES. Miracle!!!!

38 Weeks Pregnant and I love that big belly!

Wedding rings ON or OFF:

ON but I’m debating whether to take them off. Everyone says I should to be safe.

Belly Button IN or OUT?

OUT OUT OUT.

I’m Looking Forward To:

I’m counting down the days until we can meet this little boy of ours. I’m trying to soak up the alone time with Ava and I have been cherishing all her cuddles, hugs, playtime and stories. I’m trying not to get upset with her if she doesn’t listen or does something bad. I know she has a huge adjustment ahead of her and I want to help make it an easy transition by being there for her as much as possible.

Cooper loves to be in pictures (38 Weeks 3 days)

LABOR SIGNS:

I’ve had cramping and pressure plus some braxton hicks contractions but nothing that makes me feel like I’m anywhere close to labor.

I can’t believe I’m going to say it but I want to feel those REAL contractions

my belly looks HUGE in this picture!! (38 Weeks 3 days)

Random Things:

I had a doctor apt yesterday morning and I’m 2 cm 50% effaced still. The doctor can feel the baby’s head so I guess everything is progressing the way it should. There’s no way of telling time so I’m trying my best not to think about it and just take each day as it comes!!

It’s easier to say that….. 14 days until we can hold this little baby boy and I can’t wait!!!

One more picture.. This one cracks me up because Cooper literally was in ALL the photos we tried to take, but at least he sat there like a good boy! Marc is laughing because he’s pretty much staring at my big belly and doesn’t know what to do in this awkward picture

Yay for being full term!!! It’s been such a relief for Marc and I to have reached this point. This pregnancy has tested me a lot, from the beginning nausea and morning sickness, to abnormal test results, to the stomach flu a second bout of stomach flu a month later, a few migraines, I think it’s almost over? I feel like my body has been through a lot of stress and I’m happy to say that this past month has been great!!!!

I have definitely cut back on exercise. Exhaustion has taken over but I’m still feeling overall good besides the tiredness (which to be honest we all experience on a normal basis!! especially with kids).

I’m super anxious to meet our baby boy, but I know he’s coming so I’m trying to enjoy my time to get things done and do stuff with Ava. I’ve also started treating myself to a trip to the hair salon, nail salon and you know the fun stuff like massages that I have scheduled this weekend!! A little pampering always feels nice.

Anyways, here’s a quick update for you!!

(I am currently 37 weeks 2 days)

THE BABY IS about 19 inches long, the size of a large cantaloupe or head of romaine lettuce (this is always so funny to me!) He is weighing about 6 lbs 14oz according to my doctor appointment yesterday!

Weight gained

I’m up around 24 lbs..

Gender:

It’s a BOY!!!

Workouts

I took this past week off from exercise so that I could reach full term without having the baby early since I showed progress at 1 cm 50% effaced at my 36 week apt. That was a struggle for me since I love to teach my classes. I almost felt lost and out of place!! I didn’t know what to do with myself and I still found myself tired even though I wasn’t exercising.

I walked Cooper daily with Marc and Ava but that was the extent of my exercise!! I’m looking forward to be able to do more this next week now that I’m cleared

Picture taken at 36 weeks

Symptoms:

Besides being EXHAUSTED, my symptoms are rather minimal. I’ve had some braxton hicks contractions and mild cramps but nothing that is alarming.

I have been experiencing some sharp muscle spasms in my inner thighs and right butt cheek. I know it sounds funny but it’s SOOO WEIRD. Marc laughs at me but the sharp pain hurts even though it only lasts a few seconds.

Food Aversions:

I’m loving most foods which is great, but after 5pm I get super picky and tend to eat more bland foods like cheerios, crackers, toast, etc.

Whatever works!!

Food Cravings:

I LOVE PEACHES. I have one every day and maybe even 2. They are soo good

I also love watermelon and berries

white bread has been making a lot of appearances and english muffins

I still love potatoes of all kind

Chicken, beef and fish are a necessity at every meal. I need my protein

My sugar cravings and chocolate cravings haven’t been as strong but I did enjoy ice cream this week!

Sleep:

I don’t even want to say it, but sleep has been pretty good to me these last 5 nights. Fingers are crossed. I have been waking up 1-2x a night to pee which isn’t bad.

Maternity clothes:

Give me all the stretchy clothes especially shorts. I’m always hot so I need to wear shorts and loose tank tops.

Stretch marks:

None yet!

37 Weeks pregnant

Do I Miss anything:

I miss sleeping through the night but I’m over it. I know it’s not going to happen for another few months so I’m trying to prepare myself!

I miss moving easier, bending over easier, being able to pick Ava up without worrying about my belly! I also miss exercising normally.

I figured I would snap a picture from the front view. Which looks totally different then the side profile. (37 weeks)

Movement:

My little baby boy is getting big so the movements are different and more uncomfortable. He hiccups at least once a day and once at night. I love it except for when I’m trying to sleep at night!

Baby Items Purchased:

We have purchased some smaller baby items that we need, like blankets, burp cloths a sound machine. We also got a ton of clothes from my baby sprinkle that my amazing friends threw for me.

Wedding rings ON or OFF:

ON but I might take them off. I never had an issue with Ava and I don’t now but something about the heat and warm weather makes me nervous to have them on.

Belly Button IN or OUT?

Sometimes OUT and sometimes flat! Mainly out though.

I’m Looking Forward To:

I’m looking forward to each day I have left of this pregnancy. As much as I want this little guy to come I’m trying to enjoy being pregnant and embracing these last few weeks with a baby in my belly.

I am looking forward to each doctor’s appointment and I definitely can’t wait to see Ava with her baby brother.

LABOR SIGNS:

These are similar to my symptoms. Some braxton hicks contractions and cramping. I’m also dilated and effaced which means things are happening.

Random Things:

At my appointment yesterday the baby was head down and he weighed almost 7 lbs which is crazy to me. Sure it’s not 100% accurate and he could be 6 or 8 lbs but I’m happy to hear he’s a healthy boy in the 58% for size

I’m currently 2cm and 50% effaced which is great and we are making progress. I am so interested to see how much longer I have to wait to meet this little boy. It could be weeks or days. Last night I was super crampy and this morning I was very crampy. I’ll take that as a good sign that things are moving along.

I can’t wait!!!

WOW, I really can’t believe it’s Friday already but I’m not complaining. This week flew by and I’m pretty sure every week should have 4 work days right?

It’s a good thing I love my job and I don’t ever hate going to work!

I’ve had some random thoughts on my mind this week so I figured I would share them with you:

FRIDAY RAMBLES

1. I probably shouldn’t be counting down the days until my due date but I am. I’m pretty sure I did the same thing with Ava but it’s hard not to stare at the calendar these days. I will tell you that it’s going to make these last 40 days a lot longer then they need to be!

2. I’ve been getting tons of questions on how long I will be working, how I’m feeling, and how much time I will be taking off. To answer those questions briefly, I plan to work up until the end of my pregnancy as long as the doctor keeps approving! I’m feeling pretty good (knock on all the wood) besides being exhausted from 3pm on and having some small cramps/contractions I’ve been fortunate to feel pretty normal. I plan to take 3 months of from most of my work, however I will be back to boot camp a little quicker. (I will be demonstrating and teaching without doing the workout until cleared from the Doctor)

3. I’ve had moments over the past 2 weeks where I’m super excited for the baby to arrive one day and then another day I want to cry because I feel like I’m not going to be able to parent 2 kids equally. Some days I’m confident and other days I literally question how I am going to do it all. I love Ava so much but she’s a lot of work and so is Cooper. Now throw a newborn in the mix and that’s going to be a whole other challenge. I’m not superwoman but I need to stay positive. There are so many other moms that do it right?!

4. We have several party invitations in the next few weekends and I really want to attend them all but they aren’t exactly close to home. Part of me feels like I should go to them all and part of me is telling me don’t risk having a baby in another town with a random doctor!!! What are your thoughts?!

5. I’m loving the warm weather and sunshine we are having. I don’t mind the occasional day of rain that allows me to get housework done but I’m thoroughly enjoying beach trips and playing outside in the yard, park, wherever!

6. I’ve had some chocolate cravings this week and Marc asked if it was me wanting the brownies or the baby. I’m not really sure but I’m blaming the baby. I never have strong cravings when I’m not pregnant but I’m rolling with the sweet tooth this little boy has

I’ve also been loving fruit so there’s a good balance there!!

7. I haven’t really been into dinner recipes or dinner at all these past 2 weeks. If anyone has any simple meal suggestions I would love to try out some of your ideas!! My usual choices are unappealing and make me nauseous just thinking about it!!!

Well that’s it…. I hope you enjoyed my Friday Rambles and I hope you have an awesome weekend.

What are some random thoughts you’ve had this week?

Do you have any advice for mom’s with 2 kids?

Happy Hump day. I’m pretty sure short weeks are the best and I’m loving that it’s Wednesday already!!

I am currently 34 weeks pregnant and counting down the days until my due date…. 42. That number keeps getting smaller and my excitement keeps growing. I want to meet this baby boy so bad but first I need to get to full term (37 weeks) and then he can come whenever.

My food has been pretty healthy these past few weeks but my meals have been random and sometimes not complete meals. I tend to eat a little here and there rather then big meals. My belly gets full a little quicker so smaller more frequent meals does the trick!

I figured I would share my food journal with you from Memorial Day (Monday)

My morning started off as usual since I had to teach the 730am Group Power class at the YMCA.

I ate 2 eggs scrambled with spinach and potatoes, I also had a couple bites of a chocolate chip muffin. I was feeling a little nauseous and for some reason sugar does the trick!!

I wasn’t sure if I would have a normal size group or if people would sleep in on the holiday but most of my regulars were there and we were excited for a workout.

I came home to refuel with a delicious banana and a Peanut Butter Square Bar.

Of course Ava saw me eating one so I opened another one and gave her 1/2. We are both hooked!!

Around 11am I was still hungry and snacked on some baby carrots and watermelon.

We took Cooper for a quick walk since the rain kind of stopped and then it was time for lunch.

We decided to eat at home since the weather was still iffy to go out. I had a salad with greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, BBQ grilled chicken, honey mustard dressing and sunflower seeds! This has been one of my favorite spring salads lately.

I was still hungry so I had an apple and a piece of toast with lots of peanut butter.

Ava was exhausted from our weekend of fun in the sun at the beach and decided to take a nap which was totally fine with me. I was tired myself! So I spent time laying on the couch and relaxing. She woke up around 3pm and I had a quick yogurt parfait snack. Geek yogurt with blackberries grapes & strawberries plus a little granola on top.

We headed to the grocery store to get some food so Marc could grill my family a nice dinner. We had burgers, honey mustard chicken, green beans, potato salad, tossed salad, baked beans, etc.

This was my plate

but my dad’s plate looked a lot better

I also ate 1/2 of a burger that Ava didn’t eat. How could I not, don’t they look delicious? I was STUFFED and satisfied after that meal.

My family hung out and we had fun playing with Ava until she went to bed.

My sweet tooth kicked in around 830pm and I decided to make a quick batch of somewhat healthy dark chocolate brownies. I used applesauce to replace some of the oil… and they were delicious!

This little boy has me craving chocolate and I’m not complaining!! This brownie sundae totally hit the spot.

It was a great ending to a long weekend

It’s crazy that it’s Thursday already but I’m loving it and I’m loving the warm weather we have had this week. Even if it has caused me to sweat a ton and take extra showers, I am in favor of the warm weather any day.

I am currently 33 weeks pregnant and 2 days and while I’m trying to enjoy the last weeks of my pregnancy I’m also counting down the days until I can meet this little baby boy of ours. 48 days give or take which seems like nothing. I find myself guessing whether he will come right around his due date or early like Ava.

I really don’t care, I just want him to be healthy and to come when he’s ready!!

PREGNANCY UPDATE 32- 33 WEEKS

THE BABY IS about 18-18.5 inches long, the size of a honeydew melon, according to my doctor appointment 4 days ago he is weighing in at 4 lbs 9 oz. WOW.

Weight gained

20 lbs

Gender:

It’s a BOY!!!

Workouts

I am back to my normal routine and the past 2 weeks have been great, I’m teaching 6 classes per week, walking Cooper daily and fitting in some extra stretching when I can!

WEEK 32:

MONDAY Fit For Life class & Group Power class, 20 minute walk with Cooper

TUESDAY 20 Minute walk with Cooper & Boot Camp Class

WEDNESDAY 1 hour Group Power Strength training

THURSDAY Fit For Life plus taught boot camp and a 20 minute walk with Cooper

FRIDAY-SUNDAY I focused on just light cardio or walking

WEEK 33: I am teaching 7 classes in 5 days which is kind of a lot so you can imagine that I will be taking this weekend off from exercising and letting my body relax!!

(Picture taken at 33 Weeks Post Boot Camp)

Symptoms:

I can’t say I have had a ton of symptoms these past 2 weeks. It’s actually been pretty good. Besides being tired and napping on occasion I haven’t had any ligament pain, headaches, swelling, or joint pain. I hope my streak of goodness continues.

Food Aversions:

I’m getting pickier with my foods these days. There’s a lot I don’t want and I’m leaning towards simple foods and cold ones now that it’s hot.

Food Cravings:

Steak

Grilled Chicken Cold… BBQ or mustard vinagerette have been delicious right out of the fridge!

Eggs & potatoes

Raw veggies: cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers

yogurt parfaits with all the berries

Watermelon, oranges, and strawberries

Salads and sandwiches (I think because they are easy to prepare!)

Square Bars

Avocado

Chili

Chocolate.. larabar cookie dough, chocolate chip muffins, or chocolate chip ice cream

Sleep:

I have been sleeping okay at this point. I get between 7-8 hours per night and I usually wake up 1x to pee. That’s not too bad. I have found that it has gotten a bit harder for me to sleep on my left side. I blame that on my shoulder injury from a few years ago. So I have been flopping around a bit more and sleeping on my right side a little more!

Maternity clothes:

Now that the weather is getting nicer I feel like I have a few new clothing options. I have 2 pairs of maternity shorts from my pregnancy with Ava and then tons of loose dresses (that will actually probably be tight) but comfortable for the warm weather! I’m currently stretching out a lot of my workout clothes but I really don’t feel like buying myself anymore at this point in the pregnancy!

Picture taken at 33 Weeks Before one of my Group Power classes!

Stretch marks:

None yet!

Do I Miss anything:

I miss exercising at my normal pace and doing core work. I am living vicariously through my clients and classes!

I really wanted a cold cut sandwich the other day when Marc was eating it. I think more because I knew I couldn’t have it!

Movement:

The baby moves all day. Some oh his movements are a little uncomfortable. His kicks are higher and off to the side where my rib cage is. He hiccups once or twice daily and they are low so I know he’s head down.

He moves during my workouts, when I walk Cooper, when I’m laying down, when I’m eating… it seems like it’s nonstop.

He basically works out all day long. I don’t remember that with Ava!

Baby Items Purchased:

I know I mentioned we purchased a rug, but we set it up in the baby’s room and used the carpet cleaner to freshen it up. We bought a new baby gate for the top of our stairs and we are in the process of buying a new dresser for his room. I’m looking for something small but something that will fit a good amount of clothes in!

Ava is making her way out of her crib so we aren’t buying the baby a new one we are going to use hers when she’s ready to make the switch!

Wedding rings ON or OFF:

ON

Belly Button IN or OUT?

OUT.. like I’ve said before, this is not my favorite thing right now! My belly button sticks out through all my tops especially the workout tops which I’m in every day. I have had some days where it was flat and I think that’s from the baby growing!! This is my least favorite body change. I don’t mind the extra curves right now but the belly button??? Everyone stares and I’ve received some comments but I guess I’m getting used to it.

I’m Looking Forward To:

With less than 7 weeks until we meet our little baby boy my excitement is growing each day. I’m looking forward to my weekly appointments to know that the baby is doing well and going strong!

Random Things:

This past Monday we had an ultrasound. I was so happy and relieved to see our little guy was growing at the right pace, his heartbeat was strong and he was right on track. He was sucking his fingers and had his hand in front of his face most of the time so we couldn’t see him that clearly. I did see his cute little nose and mouth which looked just like Ava’s s this stage

The Doctor is having me do another ultrasound at week 35 to make sure the baby’s growth is still on track but most importantly to make sure he remains head down so that he will be in a good position for delivery.

It’s getting more real each doctors visit. We are super pumped to meet this little one and I think Ava is too

I have written about this topic before during my first pregnancy with Ava, but it’s a topic that comes up with friends, clients, and members at the gym on a regular basis.

I am totally that girl rocking the baby bump at the gym and I am proud of it. Sitting on the couch doesn’t make your pregnancy any healthier and safer! I have experienced the benefits from my first pregnacy, I was strong, I had good energy, and I was healthy up until the end of my pregnancy. I also had a quick and fast labor/delivery and I credit my fitness.

I figured I should talk about this topic today on the blog to fill you in on my fitness journey with BABY #2.

Since finding out I was pregnant I continued to exercise as I normally would with a conscious effort not to push myself to pure exhaustion.

I have been able to maintain most of the current weights during my strength workouts (with a few adjustments here and there) this seems like a major accomplishment at this point considering I am 33 weeks. My doctor has given me the okay to keep doing what I’m doing with teaching classes and exercise as long as I’m staying hydrated, not pushing my body to my limits and I’m not getting crampy afterwards.

FIRST TRIMESTER EXERCISE:

During my pregnancy with Ava I backed off a bit from the weights during my first trimester in fear of doing something wrong or causing any issues, but I was being cautious and protective when really I could continue what I was doing.

With pregnancy #2 I didn’t have to alter any of my exercises during the first trimester. I kept up with all my classes and was able to get in some extra workouts on my own as well. I always listened to my body and if I needed an extra rest day, I took it. There was one day that I took off from work due to a migraine and that was my only issue in the 1st trimester.

Even on my most nauseous days I forced myself to work and exercise (or move). It was actually one of the very FEW things that helped relieve that torturous nasuea.

SECOND TRIMESTER EXERCISE:

As I started the second trimester, things started to change a bit. I was carrying extra weight, I was breathing a little heavier during workouts and for that reason I would say I started to scale back a tiny bit. By scaling back I mean, taking a little more rest if I feel winded, or lightening my weights to make sure I could complete the workout without over doing it.

My nausea started to go away around week 16/17 and this made working out more enjoyable and also easier. There were some days I had to remind myself I was pregnant and I couldn’t push 110%. That seriously was the hardest part. When I would see other people crushing their workout, I wanted to do the same, but knew I couldn’t. Don’t get me wrong, I was totally fine with that, but I just had to remind myself to take my time. I know it’s not a race and I’m not setting any new goals/records!! Pregnancy is NOT the time to push yourself to your limits.

Carrying the extra weight made bodyweight training a tad bit harder. My pushups got weaker, and planks became ridiculously challenging. Pregnant ladies are actually stronger though in reality because we are pushing and squatting extra weight…. Right?? Lets just pretend.

Each week I participated in 5-6 days of exercise. My workouts ranged from strength training, light weight training mixed with cardio, walking, elliptical, at home workout dvd’s such as (21 day fix, Hammer & Chisel, & insanity max30). During the second trimester I did less jumping and more modifying, but I was still able to move & feel good while doing it!

At the end of my second trimester I got hit with the stomach flu…. that was no joke. I didn’t exercise or work for about 7-9 days. I listened to my body and I took all the extra rest I could get!

THIRD TRIMESTER:

The third trimester started out okay. The weight started piling on and with a bigger belly it is inevitable that things get more challenging.

I am not able to squat or lunge as deep. I eliminated all core work with the exception of some plank variations.

I just recently stopped doing all jumping exercises or jumping jacks. I’ve basically allowed my body to slow down and I will have to stick to low impact training from here on out.

A few weeks ago I got hit with round 2 of the stomach bug, thanks Marc I’m getting more winded and out of breathe quicker. That’s probably because my little baby boy is smooshing my lungs!

All in all, I can’t complain about fitness during this pregnancy. If anything, I think it’s the best thing I could do to keep my body and baby healthy, to keep my mind sane and to keep my energy up!!!

I’m happy that my doctors are supportive of my job and have no issues with me teaching classes at this point!! What I love the most is being active and helping others stay fit…. it truly is amazing!

I am currently 31 weeks + 2 days and I’m feeling very pregnant! I’m also counting down the days until I get to meet this little baby boy 61 days I wouldn’t mind an early arrival either but not more then 12 days… Ava was 12 days early and that was plenty early enough for this mama.

Since my last update, I feel like I’ve definitely had some uncomfortable pregnancy moments like round ligament pain, stomach bugs, and waking up to pee in the night. I know it all comes with being pregnant so I can’t complain because this week has been great.

I’m back to my workouts & I’m sleeping pretty well. This warm sunny weather is an instant mood booster too. I love being able to spend any free time I have outside with Ava & Cooper. It’s been a great week. Now, here’s an update for you in the pregnancy world for me.

PREGNANCY UPDATE 29-31 WEEKS

The Baby is the size of an PINEAPPLE Weighing about 3 1/2 lbs. I definitely feel like my baby boy is packing on the pounds.

Weight gained

18.5 lbs

Gender:

It’s a BOY!!!

Workouts

I didn’t work out during week 30 due to the stomach bug. This week I’m off to a great start and back to my normal routine…

This picture was taken at 30 Weeks… wet hair, no make up, and tired!

Symptoms:

I want to say my symptoms are minimal right now but during the stomach bug last week I had just about every symptom out there.. nausea, fatigue, cramps, diarrhea, loss of appetite, dehydration, lack of sleep.. you name it. Blame it on the stomach bug.

This week my symptoms are non existent. I wouldn’t count being tired as one because my job is tiring, and chasing a toddler is tiring. I have had some foot pain that started yesterday so I think I need to take it easy with some of the workouts. I try to rest when I can but lets be serious that isn’t really an option these days unless Ava naps or she’s in bed early.

I feel like my belly is getting heavy and in the way a little bit more. I can’t move as easily and my body is saying no to more exercises like jumping jacks, planks and even the slightest bit of running (like after Ava).

Food Aversions:

I’m starting to get some food aversions. Luckily it usually only happens around the early evening time. There are more foods I don’t want to eat then I want to so it’s making cooking and dinner time rough. I’m not really liking the sound of mexican or chinese food.

After eating bland foods for a week maybe I’m just being cautious as to what I put in my mouth.

Picture taken at 31 weeks + 2 days.

Food Cravings:

BBQ Chicken… give me all of it.

peanut butter on a spoon, bread, or the cookie dough larabar!

Eggs & potatoes

Watermelon, oranges, and strawberries

Brownies I may have had one when we celebrated our 5 year anniversary and on mother’s day!!!

Salads with honey mustard dressing

sandwiches and turkey burgers

Sleep:

Sleep has been great! I sleep like a rock when my head hits that pillow. I have had some really solid nights of sleep and a few nights where I have gotten up a few times to pee. Luckily it doesn’t effect me and I head right back into that deep sleep.

Maternity clothes:

I’m at the point where I wish I had more clothing options. My belly is only fitting into certain tops these days so I am just rolling with it. I only have 9 weeks left so there’s NO point in buying anything new. I love yoga pants and maternity bottoms, although pants are getting too hot to wear these days. i can’t wait to wear shorts and dresses!!

Stretch marks:

None yet!

Do I Miss anything:

I miss exercising normally. I have lightened my weights with my classes and I notice that squating and lunging is getting more challenging.

I miss laying on my belly and finding a comfortable position when I’m in bed. I also miss getting up easier. I’ll take a hand whenever I can to get up off the floor or couch

I miss a glass of wine. I wish I could’ve had a celebratory glass of wine for our 5 year anniversary with Marc. Not that hanging out with him and eating dinner wasn’t special enough but it’s nice to have a toast that isn’t with water.

Movement:

ALL day every day. Over the past few days I’ve notice baby boy moving during my classes as I’m teaching, he moves when I walk Cooper, and he moves when I’m sitting. Basically it’s ALL the time and while I love it, sometimes it can be a little uncomfortable.

Baby Items Purchased:

We purchased a rug and this one won’t get stolen from Ava. My mom also bought him a set of pacifiers, a bunch of onesies and bibs. It gets me SUPER excited for his arrival.

Wedding rings ON or OFF:

ON

Picture taken at 31 weeks + 2 days. I’m not really liking all these selfies but to be honest I only think to take pictures when I need to post a pregnancy update!!

Belly Button IN or OUT?

OUT… I’m a little self conscious about my belly button these days. It’s popping through all my tops. I feel like everyone stares at it and I don’t need anyone looking at me!! I know it’s part of pregnancy and I try to remind myself, but it’s been a little awkward for me.

I’m Looking Forward To:

I’m looking forward to spoiling Ava these next 9 weeks. I’m going to try to fill up our days with excitement, adventure and outdoor activities. I know once the baby is here she will have to be patient with me and be able to play outside or play inside more independently, so I want to take advantage of the time I have left with just her. It makes me sort of sad for her in a way, but I know she will be a great big sister!

9 weeks and we get to meet this little guy!!!

Random Things:

Ava is constantly talking to my belly. It’s super cute that she wants to say hi and put her hand on my belly but I don’t like when she lifts my shirt in public so we are working on that

Last week after the stomach bug and my dehydration incident I’ve slowed down a bit. I was nervous when I had some contractions in the hospital and as much as I want to meet this baby boy I want to meet him once I’m full term. I’m doing my best to listen to my body’s cues and when I feel the need to chill I do!!

Our schedule is looking pretty full for the month of May. I love that we have lots of plans but I definitely need to set some time to get to my to-do list before baby boy arrives.

61 days sounds like NOTHING to me. I CAN’T WAIT.

WOW.. I can’t believe I am into my 3rd trimester. That puts things into perspective for me and my excitement level to meet this little baby boy is through the roof right now.

PREGNANCY UPDATE 27 & 28 WEEKS

The Baby is the size of an Eggplant Weighing about 2 1/2 lbs

Weight gained

16.5 lbs

Gender:

It’s a BOY!!!

(Picture taken at 27 weeks)

Workouts

My workouts these past 2 weeks have been great and I’ve been pretty consistent.

WEDNESDAY 1 hour Group Power Strength training

THURSDAY Fit For Life class & Boot camp class

FRIDAY REST DAY with a 25 minute walk with Cooper

SATURDAY 25 minute family walk

SUNDAY Full body weighted circuit plus 20 minute walk

MONDAY Fit For Life class & Group Power class, 20 minute walk with Cooper

TUESDAY 20 Minute walk with Cooper & Boot Camp Class

( at 27 weeks)

Symptoms:

I must have jinxed myself with my last update when I had NO symptoms. At around 27 weeks I experienced a little round ligament pain which only lasted about 24 hours. On Saturday afternoon I also started experiencing foot pain on my right heel. I know the foot pain was due to wearing heels, tight calves from my workouts and from standing too long. The round ligament pain was expected at this point. I gotta imagine this little boy is growing at a faster pace and my belly needs to keep up.

After diligent stretching & massage on my heel thanks to Marc and a ball I roll under my foot my heel started feeling better after a week.

Besides that, I’m not achy and have been feeling pretty good. Fingers are crossed.

Food Aversions:

I don’t have any particular foods off the top of my head that I don’t want to eat but Marc mentioned chicken fajitas to me the other night and I gagged at the thought of them. I don’t like leftover green beans and I’m never in the mood for Chinese or Mexican food unless it’s home cooked chili.

Food Cravings:

Yogurt is my biggest craving and milk too with cereal.

i love chicken, steak & fish

Avocado on toast has been one of my favorite snacks

along with peanut butter and bread!

Breakfast is still my favorite meal

Give me ALL the oranges

Brownies After this past weekend of a little indulging, I was happy to be back to my challenge group of clean eating. I’m totally getting the unnecessary sugar out of my diet.

Sleep:

Sleep has been great! I sleep like a rock when my head hits that pillow. Marc and I have been rotating who gets up with Ava so that we can both get some extra sleep on the days that my work schedule allows it.

I haven’t gotten up to pee much these past 2 weeks which is shocking but as soon as my eyes open in the morning I have to go!

There were a couple nights I went to bed a little later due to the party in my belly. Baby boy has been moving up a storm

Maternity clothes:

I love maternity clothes and I’m enjoying my pants more then anything. They are comfortable and allow my belly to breathe.

Stretch marks:

None yet!

Do I Miss anything:

I miss exercising normally. Yes I still workout but I’ve made numerous modifications. Ab routines are out and so are any deep lunges/squats and jumping.

I miss a good cold cut sandwich and although I could buy organic cold cuts I can live without it but a nice deli sandwich would be good every once in a while.

Movement:

The belly movements have become pretty fun for me. I love feeling this little baby move and it’s reassuring that he’s doing well in there. Some of his movements are crazy and it seems like he’s non stop at times. I used to call Ava the kick boxer but this little guy might be giving her a run for her money.

The other night I swear I felt a leg. I had never felt anything like that before even with Ava’s pregnancy and it kind of freaked me out.

Baby Items Purchased:

We bought a rug for the baby’s room but Ava loved it so much so we gave it to her haha. SOOO I guess no new purchases for baby boy this time. We are going to buy another one for him though, don’t worry. We are also looking for a new small crib that we can temporarily use until Ava is out of hers.

(28 weeks)

Wedding rings ON or OFF:

ON

Belly Button IN or OUT?

My belly button is mostly an outie. I do not like this. It looks weird and feels weird!!!!!! I’m nervous for how it’s going to look in 2 months from now

I’m Looking Forward To:

I am looking forward to my next ultrasound. it’s always reassuring to see our baby boy and it seems like it’s been forever since we had that opportunity.

Random Things:

Yesterday I had my 28-week sugar/diabetes test. They basically give you a drink that has 100g of sugar in it (that’s about 4 1/2 tablespoons of sugar) and you have to chug it then wait an hour to have blood work.

I dreaded this appointment because I was so nauseous when I did it with Ava and almost threw up.

This one was actually WAY easier. The drink wasn’t as sugary and the nurse told me when I did it with Ava we had to fast before and I didn’t have to do it this time so that was great!

The baby is measuring right on track and his heartbeat was strong!!! All good news.

With just 12 weeks left I’m starting to get anxious, nervous, excited and all that comes with expecting a child. I know I’ve been through it before but it’s going to be different and it’s going to make things different. While I know change is good, change takes time for everyone to adjust and I guess that’s the part I’m nervous for. I know Ava will be a good big sister and Cooper is a pro by now so it gets me excited to expand our family.

I am going to try to soak up all the time I have now with Ava being the only child and let her have some fun this spring

I decided to share another update with you guys. I’m feeling so much better this week and I love looking back on these updates so I figure I should log more of them!!

With only a few weeks left in the 2nd trimester I am feeling good and happy that I have been able to do almost everything comfortably at this point!!

PREGNANCY UPDATE 24 WEEKS

The Baby is the size of a CANTALOUPE

Weight gained

No weight gain this past week, up about 13 lbs

Gender:

It’s a BOY!!!

(Picture taken at 24 weeks with a little side of Ava cheesing)

Workouts

My workouts this past week were back to normal

here’s how they looked:

WEDNESDAY 1 hour Group Power Strength training class plus 20 minute walk with Cooper

THURSDAY Fit For Life class & Boot camp class

FRIDAY 30 minute walk with Cooper

SATURDAY 25 minute Cardio Boxing workout

SUNDAY 20 minute Walk with Cooper

MONDAY Fit For Life class & Group Power class

TUESDAY 20 Minute walk with Cooper & Boot Camp Class

Symptoms:

My only symptom this past week was exhaustion. i was tired a lot and I napped way more then I normally would. I think that is due to chasing a toddler, walking the dog, teaching lots of classes and of course being pregnant on top of it!

Food Aversions:

NO AVERSIONS… that feels amazing

Food Cravings:

BROWNIES…. I had 2 brownie sundaes this past week! I have no guilt about it either!

Salads. I am totally on board with this craving. It’s healthy, easy to make, and now that the weather is nice it’s refreshing.

Chicken Cutlets

Avocado

Eggs cooked any way!

POTATOES… all of them

Sleep:

My sleep this past week hasn’t been great and that’s probably why I’m napping more. Ava has been waking up in the middle of the night which is totally not cool and also random so I’m praying it’s just a phase. Last night was a great night though everyone slept amazing. Fingers crossed it stays that way.

Besides that I know my body wants to sleep like a rock!

Maternity clothes:

Most of my workout pants are uncomfortable to wear because of the tight waistband. I have a few bigger size capris that I’m sticking too. I am also rocking some maternity leggings & tops!! They are too comfortable not to wear.

Stretch marks:

None yet!

Do I Miss anything:

I miss laying on my belly!!! This one has been tough for me but I am sticking to sleeping on my side.

I miss ab work. Planks are great but I miss all that core rotation and twisting. I also miss having strength to do full body pushups. I engage my core too much on that so it’s currently out of my workout routine for the most part.

Movement:

Baby boy is on the move and has shocked me on several occasions during the day when I am working. He is most active after I eat fruit or at night when I’m ready to fall asleep!!!

(Picture taken at 24 weeks after teaching 2 classes)

Baby Items Purchased:

I haven’t purchased anything in a while but I’m looking forward to getting his room all set up!!

Wedding rings ON or OFF:

ON

Belly Button IN or OUT?

My belly button is in on some days and out on others. I know that’s weird but it depends on the baby’s position. I’m not a fan of the outie belly button it just feels weird.

I’m Looking Forward To:

These past few days have been nice weather wise and I’m enjoying being outside with Ava & Cooper. I’m looking forward to more warm weather days so I can enjoy my time with them before the baby arrives!

I’m also looking forward to my check up at the Dr’s office next week. I love hearing the heart beat!

Random Things:

There was one night this past week that the baby was having a dance party in my belly. He made some crazy moves in there and one of them I feel like I never experienced with Ava. I have a feeling this little guy is going to be a little stronger with her. That makes me nervous for those bigger movements in the 3rd trimester!!

I do love the movements though so he can keep them coming!!!
